Reading & Phonics
At Albert Pritchard Infant and Wood Greed Junior Federated Schools, children read books that are closely matched to their phonics ability. Each phonics phase is matched to our colour banded books. This is available on the Parent Page. Once secure in their phonics knowledge, they continue to read unfamiliar colour banded books that are at a level of 90-92% readable. In addition, each child has a library book in which they have a free choice as to what they wish to read.
We use letters and sounds as our phonics programme.
